Affordable Chef's Dream: 83.90㎡ Restaurant Space for Rent in Higashi-Ueno, Tokyo
Prime Location Near Ueno Station with Fully Equipped Kitchen, Ideal for Passionate Chefs
"In times like these, we want to ensure that the passion of chefs, who aspire to provide the best meals and experiences, never fades."
With that sentiment, our partner construction company, which has always stayed true to its vision of creating the spaces they want to see, is looking to recruit a few chefs. These chefs will have the opportunity to run a rotating, shared restaurant on one of the floors in a building they occupy.
It's been a few years since our construction company began building a new world in Higashi-Ueno, Taito Ward. What was once a quiet area has now transformed into a bustling spot, frequented by trendy people. The second floor of the cafe "ROUTE BOOKS" on the first floor, is now available for rent. The space comes fully equipped with a kitchen, and we've taken care of the necessary health department approvals.
Across the street from this building is the headquarters of the construction company, where they also operate a cafe, bookstore, green shop, furniture store, and event space (hosting a variety of events like music live shows, pottery classes, English conversation classes, and guitar lessons). The area is also home to a modern art gallery, ateliers for apparel and leather goods, and shops run by various artists—creating a vibrant and creative community.
We could describe this opportunity as a "shared restaurant," but the concept is a bit more nuanced. Given the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, we're seeking chefs who had to close their restaurants but are now eagerly looking for their next opportunity. The idea is that, especially in times like these, it would be exciting to share a space and serve your cuisine.
The listed rent is an estimate based on usage around four times per month, including utility costs, but the amount may vary depending on your actual usage.
We're looking for several chefs, and we will make our selection based on the balance of the types of cuisine and the compatibility with the building. We’re open to a wide range of cuisines, from Italian and French to sushi and tempura, but please note that we're not looking for light fare like cafes or sweets—we want chefs who are committed to serious cooking.
The space won’t attract walk-in customers from the street; it's more of a reservation-only concept. The construction company itself plans to host BBQs about once a month.
While business hours may be subject to change due to the current situation, you can start your prep in the afternoon (after the cafe on the first floor closes) and open for dinner service. You won't need to worry about setting up a cash register as you can use the one from the cafe downstairs, so there's no need to prepare change.
We know it’s a tough time for chefs, but it’s precisely because of times like these that we want to keep the flame alive. Let's work together to create something truly special!
